Join us for a discussion into the landscape of artificial intelligence (AI), where we'll explore recent advancements, as well as myriad opportunities and potential risks it presents. We'll discuss what AI actually is, trace its history from sci-fi dreams to present-day chatbots, and spotlight the latest “generative” AI models that can produce original content like images and poems. This talk aims to provide a primer on both the profound potential and possible pitfalls of ascribing intelligence to machines. No tech background required to attend the discussion. Presented by Aakash Gautam, assistant professor in the School of Computing and Information at the University of Pittsburgh.
